Biography of Founder

Dr Cheng Chang Dong (程长东), the Managing Director of NDI Automation (新加坡能达自动化技术有限公司), received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT哈尔滨工业大学), China, and his Ph.D degree from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA北京航空航天大学), China, in 1990, 1995 and 1999, respectively. From 1993 to 1994, Dr Cheng was the Chair of Students' Association of Science & Technology of HIT (哈尔滨工业大学学生科学技术协会). Since May 2015, he is a former vice-chair of Beihang Alumni Association of Singapore (北京航空航天大学新加坡校友会).

Between 2000 and 2004, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National University of Singapore (NUS新加坡国立大学) and subsequently, in the Temasek Laboratories at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU南洋理工大学), Singapore. From 2005 to 2006, he was a part-time lecturer of several joint modules between Informatics Group (Singapore) and University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. These modules include Communication System, Computer Vision and Digital Signal Processing.

Dr Cheng is a recipient of IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2001, and Next Generation Container Port Challenge Commendation Award organized by MPA and Singapore Maritime Institute in April 2013, respectively. He also wrote 28 technical papers for international journals and conferences and co-authored 1 complete book and one chapter in 3 books for IGI Global, USA. Dr Cheng is a Senior Member of IES (Institution of Engineers, Singapore) since Oct 2016.
